Judge Daniel A. Flores

Selected to receive the inaugural Alumni of Distinction Award on May 10, 2024 from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. McGeorge School of Law is celebrating members of its vast alumni network in honor of the school’s 100-year anniversary in 2024. This award honors alumni who have exhibited outstanding professional achievements, demonstrated a commitment to the legal profession, and diligently served the communities they live in. Judge Flores is a 2001 graduate of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

Judge Michelle Tong

Selected to receive the inaugural Alumni of Distinction Award from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. McGeorge School of Law is celebrating members of its vast alumni network in honor of the school’s 100-year anniversary in 2024. This award honors alumni who have exhibited outstanding professional achievements, demonstrated a commitment to the legal profession, and diligently served the communities they live in. Judge Tong is a 2001 graduate of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. She will be honored at a special event hosted by McGeorge School of Law on May 10, 2024.

Judge Roger C. Chan

Honored on March 1, 2024 by the Korean American Bar Association of Northern California (KABANC) with KABANC’s 2024 Trailblazer Awards during its 2024 Gala, held at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. KABANC recognized 14 teen Korean American judges and justices who serve in Northern California and on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit with these 2024 Trailblazer Awards. KABANC celebrated the achievements of legal professionals and judges in the Korean American community at the 2024 Gala -- the first Gala held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Judge A. Marisa Chun

Honored on March 1, 2024 by the Korean American Bar Association of Northern California (KABANC) with KABANC’s 2024 Trailblazer Awards during its 2024 Gala, held at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. KABANC recognized 14 Korean American judges and justices who serve in Northern California and on U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit with these 2024 Trailblazer Awards. Judge Chun, who served as KABANC’s president from 2001 to 2002, delivered remarks on behalf of the 2024 Trailblazer Honorees. KABANC celebrated the achievements of legal professionals and judges in the Korean American community at the 2024 Gala – the first Gala held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Judge A. Marisa Chun received KABANC Trailblazer Award in March 2023 presented by Eric Kim, KABANC Board Member and Ropers Majeski Senior Associate. She is the past president of KABANC.

Honored as Judge of the Year by San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (SFTLA) during the Judges Award Dinner on October 20, 2023 at the Westin St. Francis.

Named Judge of the Year in 2023 by the San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association (SFLRLA).

Judge Kathleen Kelly

Recognized by the Family Treatment Court (FTC) for being the longest serving judge in this assignment. San Francisco Mayor London Breed attended the ceremony honoring Judge Kelly.  Created 15 years ago, the FTC is a collaboration of public agencies and community-based service providers and offers highly coordinated assessment, treatment planning, and recovery maintenance support for families involved in the juvenile dependency system as a result of parental substance use. Using a non-adversarial approach, FTC integrates judicial and procedural accountability with substance use disorder treatment, parenting education, and other services to maximize positive outcomes for families. In the past 15 years, FTC has served over 600 parents and 750 children with a comprehensive array of services and an emphasis on compassion, fairness, and self-determination. Judge Kelly has presided over the FTC since 2015.

Judge Kathleen Kelly and Mayor London Breed celebrate the success of the Family Treatment Court and Judge Kelly’s tenure as the judge presiding in the court for nearly a decade.

Judge Monica F. Wiley

Named one of 60 “Courageous Judges” by the National Judicial College. Founded in 1963, and headquartered in Reno, Nevada since 1964, the NJC is the country’s oldest, largest and most widely attended school for judges. The college unveiled its list of “60 Courageous Judges” at an anniversary celebration last month in Las Vegas. Judge Wiley was honored for spending the majority of her judicial career working in family law and working with system-involved youth to ensure that they are both held accountable and have the opportunity and resources to take a different path. Also involved in raising sometimes unpopular judicial education issues, including implicit bias and its impact on decision making.

Received the Outstanding Service to Family Law Award by the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS) on December 9 at the Westin St. Francis.  

Honored on December 2, 2023 with the Northern Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) with the Rick Chamberlin Award, which honors a non-AAML fellow who has made extraordinary contributions to the family law community. AAML is a leader in Family Law continuing education and is dedicated to providing leadership that promotes the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of law.

Received the Champion of Diversity Award from the Minority Bar Coalition in 2022.
